Stephanie Hicks is a Statistician

Stephanie Hicks is a statistician at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, MA. As an undergraduate student, she majored in Mathematics at Louisiana State University. At the end of college, she realized she preferred to work in an applied mathematics field working with data to solve real world problems, so she went on to earn her Masters and Ph.D. in Statistics from Rice University in Houston, TX. At work, Stephanie develops statistical methods and software to analyze data from the human genome. This is important because it can impact the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of diseases. Outside of work, you can usually find Stephanie baking sweet treats in the kitchen, running outside (in nice weather), or cuddling with her newborn son, Alexander. One of her favorite quotes: 'Far better an approximate answer to the right question, which is often vague, than the exact answer to the wrong question, which can always be made precise.' - John Tukey
