Partners

Inspiring the next generation of women in STEM takes a lot of work! Luckily, CuSTEMized is able to partner with various organizations that share our values to efficiently accomplish our mission. Please check them out!

The Innovation Institute (Ti2)

The Innovation Institute (Ti2) is a leading science and engineering program for highly motivated students, ages 5-17. Ti2 seeks to ensure that young people explore and develop their capacity for excellence through demanding, respectful, and purposeful teaching and learning. Ti2 believes that students must be held to the highest expectations and provided with the educational processes and social supports for success.

CuSTEMized and Ti2 share a core belief in the power of girls to achieve transformative impacts in science and engineering. Understanding the hard data about female attrition and self-selection away from such fields drives us to seek ways to ensure that young girls see themselves as highly able to pursue learning and careers in these areas. We know that engaging with female role models and mentors regularly through informal and formal learning has a powerful impact upon a girl's belief about her capacity, interests and values. So, we work in synergistic ways to create these opportunities such as by hosting hands-on learning STEM enrichment programs and offering STEM courses targeted towards girls.

Science Club for Girls (SCFG)

Science Club for Girls (SCFG) fosters excitement, confidence and literacy in STEM for girls from underrepresented communities by providing free, experiential programs and by maximizing meaningful interactions with women mentors in science, technology, engineering & mathematics. SCFG provides girls in K-12 grades with a fun, nurturing, interactive after-school club-based environment that fosters both scientific thinking and sisterhood. Over 80% of SCFG participants come from racial or socio-economic backgrounds that are underrepresented in STEM fields.

CuSTEMized and SCFG share in the vision of a fully diverse and inclusive STEM community. We work together to provide personalized storybooks to over 100 young girls across Massachusettes. SCFG mentor scientists help ensure that each gifted book is personalized properly and personally delivered with love and care to the right child. We believe that such a special gift, especially when given to a child by a mentor she looks up to, will provide a message that resonates long after girls graduate from clubs.

CuSTEMized and SCFG provide over 100 girls with their own personalized storybook every year!

Boston University's Graduate Women in Science and Engineering (GWISE@BU)

GWISE@BU volunteers with the Girls Science Club at West End House to coordinate fun, hands-on activities for elementary school girls, which will convey important concepts in diverse STEM fields. CuSTEMized and GWISE@BU collaborate to help young girls gain a better understanding of basic scientific concepts and engineering principles, get them excited about science and engineering, and encourage them to pursue future careers in STEM fields.

CuSTEMized and GWISE@BU organize fun STEM coloring activities to encourage girls to see themselves as scientists!
